About Me
After thirty years of rewarding work as a psychologist, I have moved from that world of words and meaning to the visual world of light, form, and color. I photograph what I love, and what piques my curiosity. Departing from realistic photography methods, I use Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) and in-camera multiple exposure techniques to create images that blur the boundaries between photography and abstract painting. Working in this way, I can enter a more fluid world where color and form combine with time and motion to reveal what the eye doesn’t see, but can only imagine. Processing the camera’s captured images in Lightroom and Photoshop, I transform them in ways that may simply enhance the camera’s raw material, or may combine and process to create more complex patterns of color and form that are purely abstract. I find a deep sense of joy and freedom in this spontaneous approach to photography where form, color, light and motion interact in unpredictable ways, making each image a surprise.
